WCDN holds 3rd International Christian Medical Conference in Philippines

Overcoming incurable or hard-to-cure diseases and enjoying a healthy life is one of the most sought-after desires of mankind.

For this, the importance of medicine, which deals with human life, can never be overemphasized. Recently, a new kind of medical conference has caught the attention of many and has thrown wide open a new chapter in special medical treatments.

The 3rd International Christian Medical Conference was held by WCDN, or World Christian Doctors Network, under the title "Spirituality and Medicine III - Pursuit for Excellence" at the Grand Convention Center in Cebu, Philippines, on June 1 and 2. It was attended by more than 500 medical doctors and students from 26 countries.

WCDN is the first international Christian medical organization that not only deals with current medical issues but also objectively clarifies and confirms cases healed by divine power.

Participants came from 26 countries as far distant as the United States, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Faroe Islands and Russia to share opinions and discuss the cases in which people received their healing by God's power, not by medical treatment.

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the president of the Philippines, and Francisco T. Duque III, the secretary of the Department of Health, sent their congratulatory messages. GMA TV of the Philippines and GCN TV of the United States covered the news gathering at this conference.

The founder of WCDN, Rev. Dr. Lee Jaerock, senior pastor of Manmin Joong-ang Church, through his video message encouraged the Christian doctors, saying, "Jesus healed many sicknesses and infirmities by God's power and solved physical and spiritual problems that could not be resolved by human ability. In the same way, I urge you to participate in the ministry in which you will not only cure the diseases of the sick but also guide them to the Lord."

Medical doctor Hwang Joon-ha, the chairman of WCDN, made a speech on spirituality and medicine entitled "Meaningful Life," and medical doctor Antonio Yapha, Jr., chairman of the Committee on Health, House of Representatives, delivered the keynote address, saying, "To accomplish the top level of medicine is the very thing that the people and our society expect us, medical doctors to do. During this conference, we will examine what we should do to accomplish the top level of medicine. And we will discuss the thought that medicine itself is not enough for the goal, and discover how we can obey the will and calling of God as Christian doctors."

Doctors from various countries presented divine healing cases, most of which took place through the prayer of Rev. Dr. Lee Jaerock. These included highest degree disability, gastric cancer, Harada disease, elbow calcium tendonitis, Celiac disease, infertility, face burn, intra-cerebral hemorrhage, quadriplegia, and thoracic tumor, along with medical data and documents.

The attendants were especially surprised to note the intra-cerebral hemorrhage was healed without any medical treatment, only by prayer. They also acknowledged the fact that it was God's work that healed Lee Jaewoo of his burns. His face was burned by boiling oil in a heated frying pan and he was healed in just three weeks without any scars remaining.

"I attended the 2nd conference last year, and I was very much touched. This year, I came with my fellow doctors in Norway and Denmark. In this conference, we come to believe the miracles that took place at the time of Jesus can also take place today. I will broadcast this conference on my radio station," said Dr. Jenis av Rana, a member of parliament of the Faroe lslands, general practitioner, and the chairman of a Christian radio station.

In addition, Dr. Sven Frederick, a resident at the medical department of Faroe Islands National Hospital, said, "If this conference is held in northern Europe, many intellectuals will come to acknowledge the power of God. I was touched seeing the patients with disabilities who were healed through prayer, without any medical intervention."

Dr. David A. Prentice, senior fellow for life sciences at the Family Research Council, Washington, D.C., a founding member of Do No Harm, a coalition for research ethics, and an internationally-recognized expert on stem cell and cloning research, and who has also spoken before the United Nations and U.S. Senate, emphasized in his special lecture that the medical doctors in attendance could heal the patients respecting the love of God and the value of human beings.

"Embryonic stem cell research accompanies varied ethical problems and it still has a long way to go to get actual outcomes. In the case of adult stem cell research, however, there is no ethical problem, and they are already doing clinical trials," he said in his lecture.

Judge Robert Newsom, district judge of Sulfur Springs, Texas, gave his testimony of being healed of his cancer by the power of God. He said in an interview, "I was thrilled to see the healing cases of the power of God in this conference. I realized all the answers to life and even sickness are found in Jesus and the Bible. I hope the doctors will spread to world what they have seen and heard in this conference."

Dr. Arlene Diaz, dean of the Southwestern University College of Medicine, and other doctors and medical students in participation expressed a wish that this kind of conference could be held continually and said with one voice.

"This conference is so special because here we don't only talk about medical care and medicine but it tells us how to rely on spiritual healing by the power of God. Because medical doctors rely on their medical knowledge and experience more, it is difficult for them to accept the fact that patients can be healed by relying on God. But when they repeatedly hear about this kind of conference, they are going to have interest in divine healing, so that they will be able to get much better results for they will combine medical care and spiritual healing."

Many doctors in the conference said that the medical world is and will always be researching and developing new medical technologies to conquer all diseases, but when the doctors care for the patients with the heart of Jesus and pray and rely on God along with their medical care, they will experience divine healing that goes beyond human limits and be more successful in their medical profession.
