"Have You Seen Dragonflies Coming down from the Sky?"_Big swarms of dragonflies, reminder of a biblical account
Dragonflies are flying down from around the sun like white snowflakes/ Every summer, Manmin members from all around the world feel God's grace and love seeing amazing dragonflies from heaven. (Photos: the members having dragonflies light on their fingertips during Manmin Summer Retreat).
Just as beautiful white snowflakes come down from heaven, grand swarms of dragonflies come down from around the sun all at once and sit on many church members.
The dragonflies fly down in zigzags as if they are dancing and land precisely on the church members. They sit and stay on their hands, heads, and other parts of their bodies. Even when the members petted and kissed them, they stayed with the members. How amazing!
The single compound eye in dragonflies is comprised of about 28,000 ommatidia. The ommatidia are visual units consisting of a lens system and a group of light sensitive cells. The direction of each ommatidium is different so the ommatidia point in almost all directions and give a 360 degree visual field. So, dragonflies can see moving things 20m away and even some at a distance of 37m.
Thus, it is really hard to catch dragonflies. Nevertheless, many dragonflies fly down on Manmin members in a friendly way. In August 2006, Manmin members met these dragonflies for the first time during Manmin Summer Retreat in Muju, Jeonbuk Province. They felt special joy and enjoyed themselves in the very delightful situation.
The retreat venue was an outdoor space surrounded by mountains full of trees and plants. But the countless dragonflies got rid of harmful and distracting insects including mosquitos and moths. Some accommodations' owners and residents nearby were amazed. They said there had been so many insects, mosquitos, and moths and it was hard to fight against them. But when Manmin members came, the insects were all gone and after the members left the harmful insects came back again.
The following summer they again appeared before Manmin members. From that time on they have shown up every summer for ten consecutive years. Some members come all the way to Korea from distant foreign countries and join Manmin Summer Retreat to experience this amazing work.
These marvelous dragonflies turn up in many events such as Leadership Conference and Summer Bible School as well as Manmin Summer Retreat. Moreover, they also show up around Manmin members in workplace or at home.
The Israelites experienced a similar amazing thing. Exodus 16:13-14 reads, "So it came about at evening that the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground." While they were living in the wilderness for 40 years, they ate manna and quail that came from heaven.
God is the same yesterday and today. Through dragonflies, He shows us the existence of the spiritual realm and helps us believe in it. At the same time, He proves the authenticity of the Bible. It is His great love. Manmin members are looking forward to Manmin Summer Retreat where they will have a great time with pretty dragonflies.
