Through the efforts of the Women's Mission, kimchi was made with love and shared with about 1,300 households near the church that are in need through several organizations.
On November 18th and 19th in 2015, the church had its '18th Love Sharing Event' with Kimchi. The members of Women's Mission gathered in the backyard of the church.
A member from Haenam, Jeonnam Province sent cabbages that she had grown herself. She has supported the event every year with thanks since her grandson was healed of scalding by the power of God. The church's Levite workers also joined in moving cabbages and putting them in the salted water. The Women's Mission members put the pepper, vegetable and spice sauce on the cabbages. From very early morning, they made kimchi with love and happiness and the kimchi making process was completed.
The kimchi was bagged and put in boxes. Each box of kimchi weighed 11 to 12kg. Then through Shindaebang 2-dong Community Service Center, Guro-gu Vocational Training Center for People with Special Needs, and Korea Rehabilitation Agency, it was delivered to households that the church helps and to around 1,300 families in need such as families with a young head of the household and elderly people living alone.
Mr. Kanghyuk Lee, Chief of Shindaebang 2-dong Community Service Center said, "Manmin Central Church gives rice and the kimchi that the church members made with love to needy people through us every year. The kimchi is well-known for its very good taste, and they know that it is made of good ingredients and with great love. They said it is a lot more delicious than the one they could make."
Guro-gu Vocational Training Center Head Chan-geun Park stated, "Thank you for giving us this kimchi that is so filled with love again this year. We are very grateful to Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee and the church members. It tastes super good so people love it.
Dr. Jaerock Lee has tried his best to help others who are in need since the opening of the church. The Charity Department provides young family heads-of the household and the elderly living alone with some financial support, rice, and side dishes the first week every of month. The Scholarship Department gives scholarship money to elementary, middle, high school, and college students who are exemplary students in need of financial help.
Following such deeds of Senior Pastor Dr. Lee, many members including adults, young adults, and even students try to practice love by helping others and giving support to them. A member of the Charity Department said, "The amount of the members' offerings for support has constantly increased. In this economic slump, our members have received blessings by the grace of God."
Some members also share love through donation of their talents and skills. The teachers of Students' Sunday School help students study, or consult with them about schools and achieving dreams. They also teach them how to write effectively. Some members joined and helped students after school as mentors, which has helped improve their grades in school.
Pastor Jaejung Lee, Principal of Students Sunday School said, "The talents and knowledge the members have are good and they are a precious resource for students to increase potential of achieving their dreams and visions. I hope more people will join in this mentoring program and talent donation."
The Condolence Committee helps with funeral arrangements. The Rehabilitation Mission holds regular events for inmates. And there is a Hair Designers' Mission that does the hair for the elderly in a welfare center for the elderly on a monthly basis.
Manmin members feel warm and peaceful even in the winter because they share with love and practice the love of the Lord. It's because God, who is pleased with love, good deeds and charitable works, has given them answers, blessings, and joy.
