The meaning of the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.

“Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. They said therefore among themselves, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,’ that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: ‘They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.’ Therefore the soldiers did these things.”
(John 19:23-24)

2. The meaning of Jesus’ tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.

John 19:23 says, “Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.” Jesus’ tunic was not made by sewing together several pieces of cloth, but was woven in one piece from the top. People generally do not pay much attention to whether undergarments are woven from the top or from the bottom.
But why did God record Jesus’ tunic in such detail? Jesus is the King of Israel and His tunic represents an inner heart of the people of Israel and their faith in God. So, it tells us that Israel is a pure, single nation without intermarriage with Gentiles.
The Bible says that Adam is the father of mankind Abraham, the father of faith, and Jacob, the father of God’s Elect Israel. God gave Jacob a new name ‘Israel’ and formed the twelve tribes of Israel through his twelve sons. God saw Jacob’s good and spiritual heart, and formed the nation of Israel through him.
The people of Israel lasted as a single race for long without intermarrying with other races, and have served only God the one Deity. The phrase “woven from the top” means that they descended as a single pure people from Abraham and Jacob, and through the twelve tribes of Israel.
The reason God appointed as the father of Israel, Jacob, not Abraham is because the twelve tribes were formed through Jacob and they formed the nation of Israel.

Genesis 35:10-11 reads, “And God said to him[Jacob], ‘Your name is Jacob; You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.’ Thus He called him Israel. God also said to him, ‘I am God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come forth from you.’”
Israel was established as a pure, single nation through the twelve sons of Jacob. However, during the reign of King Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, Israel was divided into the northern Israel and the southern Judah. With the passing of time, the northern Israel intermarried with Gentiles and became a mixed race. The southern Judah continued to have pure bloodlines without mixing with Gentiles, who are called ‘Jews.’
The sentence that Jesus’ tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece symbolizes that Israel has been a pure, single nation that has not mixed with Gentiles since it was formed by Jacob.
But the ones God want to have are not those who have a pure bloodline but those whose heart belongs to God in spirit. Therefore, we should have a pure heart without falsehood before God. We should possess a pure heart and God-pleasing faith instead of leading a religious life outwardly.
