Deacon Sanghun Han (16-2nd Parish, 2-4th Men's Mission)
In November 2001, I was first introduced to my wife, Deaconess Pilsook Choi by an acquaintance and we got married. Since I was 37 and my wife was 36 at that time, we wanted to have a baby as soon as possible. But there was no sign of pregnancy for a year. Our parents were inwardly concerned about it.
My wife, however, didn't sway at all. This was because she had seen and heard many testimonies of those who came to have babies through Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer even though they hadn't been able to conceive after seven, ten, or even twenty years of marriage.
In October 2002, my wife prayed with all her heart and received Dr. Lee's prayer. Then, we were blessed with conceiving a child. Since I had desired to have a child, I began to lead a diligent Christian life and gave the tithe. But it didn't last long. I soon fell back into my old habits. Even when she had bad morning sickness or it was difficult for her to move around, I was immersed deep in the online games.
The next year, on July 14, my son, Seonghee, was born. I was so delighted that I quitted smoking as I had promised my wife. But I think I liked online games like "Go", card games, or "Yut" more than my wife and my son. I didn't fulfill my duty as a husband. I was just hooked on online games.
My life was full of online games at home and even in my workplace. I played games until 2 A.M. every day. It goes without saying that my Christian life was hopeless. I lived like that for ten years. I can't imagine how much sorrow my wife felt because of me.
I was later told that she left me to the hands of God with love, prayer, and faith. She hadn't nagged me or complained a word. She believed that I would turn over a new leaf someday.
I heard that my wife and son had talked about me on March 1, 2011. My son said, "Mom! I am so worried about dad. What if dad goes to Hell?" My wife replied, "How can you even say such a thing? God will give him grace. Your dad will also change. Pray, and pray for him to go to Heaven together with us. Will you pray for him together with me?"
A couple of days later, my son told me, "Dad! Would you please stop playing games and read Dr. Lee's books?" I said, "Yes, I will!" I had his words on my conscience, but I said yes half-heartedly. Then, however, amazing things happened to me.
On March 7, I had a dinner. All of sudden, the book on the table caught my eye. It was Dr. Lee's representative book, The Message of the Cross. I suddenly had the urge to read the book and opened it.
Inside the book cover was Dr. Lee's picture. I felt like he said hello to me. I usually fell asleep soon when I started reading a book, but it was different from any other day. Amazingly, I didn't feel drowsy even though I kept reading and reading. I was still wide awake and felt grace overflow in me. I read through the book for around three to four hours at one time.
That day I didn't even turn on my computer. The next day, I even felt curious about what is written in the next chapter on the way to work. My heart had been filled with only online games until the previous day. I found myself happy and joyful to read Dr. Lee's book.
I even came to have hope for Heaven and made up my mind to live by the word of God. I haven't played online games at all since then.
I still feel so amazed by the fact that I could just suddenly stop playing online games that had troubled me for more than ten years. I don't think I could have quit playing the games with my own strength. It was the grace of God and the help of the Holy Spirit that set me free from them. Although the Holy Spirit advised me to quit playing the games countless times, I couldn't turn away from them. But this time He finally worked through the word of my son.
Now I enjoy reading Dr. Lee's books and pray earnestly in Daniel Prayer Meeting. Happiness fills my family. We came to have one heart. We talk about how to spiritually grow up at home and read Dr. Lee's books together.
We also have received a lot of grace through GCN programming instead of watching soap operas or show programs on TV. We plan to give home service every week. I give all thanks and glory to God who gives us true happiness.
