"I Feel More Thankful and Receive More Blessing by Volunteering"
Deacon Jongyoung Lee, age 57, Parish 8, Manmin Central Church
On December 29, 1998, it was an early morning. There was thin ice here and there on the road. All of a sudden, a taxi drove over the centerline and ran into my car head-on. My car was damaged so badly that it was unrecognizable. My face was torn by broken pieces of the windshield. My femoral region and sacrum were severely fractured. The doctor told me that it would be hard for it all to recover even with surgery.
I was a newcomer in the church. I drank alcohol, smoked, and did not keep the Lord's Day. After the emergency surgery, I stayed in the hospital and could not move with my leg that was wrapped with dressings. My leg was elevated by a weight and a link in the ceiling. One day, my wife took me by wheelchair to Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee and had me receive his prayer. After he prayed for me, an amazing thing happened. From day to day my recovery was very fast. Around three months later, I was able to play soccer again. Hallelujah!
This changed my life goal. As I was convinced that God is alive, I began to keep the Lord's Day, offer up a tithe, and prayed earnestly. Through faith I was given understanding of Heaven and Hell as I listened to the sermons. I became filled with thanks for the grace of salvation. My heart was more and more filled with a desire to repay the grace God poured upon me.
In 2001, I started to volunteer in the church's cafeteria on Sundays. I was very busy making noodles and soup for the church members but I was so happy to pile up my rewards in Heaven volunteering because I had been set free from a fifth category disability and became healthy. God gave me a great blessing in my life. I was protected when many people were fired in my workplace, and I was even appointed to the headquarters and assigned a new task. I received financial blessings as well.
This previous spring I received Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer for my job after my retirement. I was blessed to be scouted by another company in the same field. I was given the duty as a leader of the layman volunteer team of Manmin Volunteer Group. As I work with my faithful members, I am getting to feel a lot happier. I pray for my members in Daniel Prayer Meeting. I help the members in need at times. Doing so, I could feel the heart of God who cherishes souls. I was given Award of Merit from the church early this year.
My wife, Senior Deaconess Hwajin Hong was healed of adenomyosis uteri by Dr. Lee's prayer during the worship service. In the meantime, recently, I experienced the grace of God. I came back home from Daniel Prayer Meeting and parked my car. A loud roaring was heard. It was gas explosion in a near-by shopping area. I was reminded that when I had left for home I was suddenly urged to go the other way home. I obeyed and avoided the accident. If I had come home on the road I usually comes, I would have passed the place of the explosion.
I give all thanks and glory to God who protects us all the time and blesses us to live with hope for New Jerusalem, the best dwelling place in Heaven.
