Deaconess Miyeon Yu, age 39, Canaan Mission
When I was a 9th grader in 1994, my mother had a surgery for stomach cancer in the final stage. She was recovered very quickly after she received Dr. Jaerock Lee's prayer recorded on the telephone Automated Response System. Then, I came to believe the living God (second from left in the photo).
During my college days, however, I did not live by the Word of God. After I got a job, I didn't obey the Word, either. Meantime, in New Year's Service 2003, I thought I would go to Hell if I got stuck in this way of life, and then made a resolution.
In March 2003, I came to Special Daniel Prayer Meeting. In the very first night, I was so touched in my heart and thoroughly repented of sins. And I could distance myself from worldly pleasure. Afterwards, I began to faithfully serve as a choir member and a group leader. I was greatly blessed in taking care of souls and leading meetings.
I am a senior researcher in Samsung SDI Electronic Materials. In 2013, I began trying to live by the Word in my workplace. I spent most of my time there. At that time, I was in charge of a project and had to work with a person others avoided working with. It was hard to work with her at first, but as I prayed earnestly I came to be able to understand her. I used to feel a little upset and troubled before, but came to understand her in my heart easily. As I also tried to move her heart with consideration and love, I could finish the project successfully.
After work, I went to graduate school and attended Daniel Prayer Meeting. At home, I had to do assignments, study for tests, or write my thesis until 2 or 3 A.M. At that time, people in my workplace were sensitive due to employee performance review. I also had other things to do such as studying English and some works related to patent. I was even put in charge of the laboratory safe environment. I had to wake up at 5 A.M. and go to factories in other provinces by Korea Train eXpress (KTX). Whenever I was faced with various difficulties, I thought about quitting my job a few times a day.
But I relied on God and unceasingly prayed. I tried to learn humbly even from those who are younger than me or subordinates. As doing so, I could carry out my tasks successfully, and my lab continued to receive Excellence Award. I was even ranked high in the performance review.
I could endure everything because I believed all these difficulties were from the love of God who wanted me to grow in spirit. I came to have a variety of experiences and learn how to deal with many kinds of problems. By the grace of God, I earned Master's degree in Yonsei University and even received Best Thesis Award. While everything came to be at peace, I became complacent in my believing life. In the meantime, in June 2016, I was transferred to a branch in Cheongju.
I had to join Daniel Prayer Meeting via GCN in my house in Cheongju. On weekends, I came to Seoul by KTX to attend worship services. Then, I realized how thankful I should be just for being able to sit in the sanctuary. In the Manmin Summer Retreat, I felt deep love of the shepherd and became very earnest to repay his grace and tried to change into spirit. In September, I heard that I would have to stay in Cheongju for just six months, not a year. It was shortened. And I heard that I entered spirit. Hallelujah!
God also blessed my family as my soul prospers. My father Deacon Yangmok Yu received financial blessing, my mother Senior Deaconess Heejung Han performs her God-given duty diligently, and my sister Deaconess Jiyeon Yu is a member of Crystal Singers of Performing Arts Committee. I give all thanks and glory to God who blessed my family to lead a life with hope for New Jerusalem.
