Elder Joongik Jeon, President of Police Officers' Association
I am a patrol team leader of Danggok Patrol Division in Gwanak Police Office. On June 30, 2017, I was chosen as an exemplary civil servant and given the Prime Minister's commendation. I have received more than forty rewards in recognition of my contributions to the nation. It is all by the grace of God that I received such great blessings that are more than what I really did for thirty years.
In November 1993, a few years after I had registered in Manmin Central Church, I was participating in riot suppression at the Jogyesa Temple. The ladder truck that I and my coworkers were on overturned and we fell from a height of fifteen meters. In this big accident, I did not get hurt at all. I was perfectly protected. Afterwards, I began to try to live by the Word of God following my Senior Pastor Dr. Jaerock Lee's good teaching.
I went through many kinds of incidents while on duty. Due to my self-righteousness I used to burst into anger, but from a certain point in time, I began to consider people who came to the police station as souls 'more precious than the whole world.' I would ask them if they wanted water. I also asked if they preferred hot water or cold water. As I tried to be nice to them with heart, they were moved by my little acts of kindness. At times some people would hold my hands and cry.
One day, a man was put in our custody. When he ran riot, ten police officers were not able to overpower him. He was a convict that had been jailed repeatedly for thirty years. He shouted and chewed bottle tops or kettle lids. Right at the moment, a testimony came to my mind; it was that even people with mental disorders, the demon-possessed, and even dogs barking loudly were afraid of the picture of Senior Pastor.
I entered the retaining cell to meet him with Senior Pastor's picture. He had been shouting and moving violently before I entered. But as I expected, when he saw the picture, he could not look straight in the eyes in the picture and tried to avoid it. He went to the corner of the room and tried to hide himself. I preached the Word of God, hugged him, and prayed for him with tears. I treated him with the Lord's love. He eventually changed and sent a letter to me from prison.
His letter read, "I used to be bound by a chain of sin for thirty years. I give thanks to God who broke the chain. I was so much blessed through the book Tasting Eternal Life before Death which you had given to me. I gave the book to other prisoners, and they read the book and received comfort from God." When I read the letter, I burst into tears.
In 2016, a report was received. It was about a woman who lived in a house that had been empty for ten years. She would set the house on fire and threaten neighbors. I first reported this case to my head office so that the woman could receive financial and administrative assistance. I also went to her and prayed for her with the handkerchief on which Senior Pastor had prayed (Acts 19:11-12). I also gave Senior Pastor's testimonial memoirs and bought meals for her. I took care of her both spiritually and financially. Brother Pablo and his grandmother Sister Eva Cunyana, Peru Manmin ChurchIn seven months, she finally returned to normal. Now she is living a normal life. Hallelujah!
Through these incidents, I felt the existence of the spiritual world. I was also convinced that even people who seem impossible to be renewed can be changed by the love and grace of God and the shepherd's power. My job is a bit hard, but the Word of God is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have experienced the shepherd's power and happily fulfilled my duties.
I give all thanks and glory to God who has let me realize true goodness and love and put me in His guidance.
