Could there be another dimension of the world on the other side of the world in which we live? Does a gateway to such a dimension exist? Such questions have been posed and covered many a time in children's cartoons and fairy tales that requires a great deal of creativity. From the perspective of a faithful Christian, the existence of a new dimension of the world is natural. Of course, "a new dimension of the world" spoken here refers to the spiritual world, the afterlife. Dr. Don N. Page, Ph.D., Professor of Physics and CIAR Cosmology Fellow at the University of Alberta, and Dr. Max Tegmark, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), both of whom command worldwide authority and recognition in the field of astrophysics, argue that the existence of a new dimension of the world is highly likely. Among those involved in theoretical astrophysics, the most reasonable opinion is that the existence of a gateway leading into a new dimension, though it may be limited, is very possible. Their theses and guest lectures featured in such renowned scientific journals as Scientific American and Physical Review have dealt in great depth with this topic. Some of their prevalent arguments are:
First, the universe in which we live is only a part of the entire universe. Along with the parts of the universe that cannot be observed, we live in a miniature universe that is a portion of the entire universe. Second, each miniature universe is said to possess different attributes. There exists another world other than the one in which we live and these two worlds exhibit different physical and natural attributes. Third, it is possible for a universe with a highly advanced civilization to exist within the entire universe.
Such astronomical results have been derived from experimental observations and are also based on observations made from radio telescopes of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as of late. Analyzing the observation results and judging from the size of the universe, scientists conclude that its size is limitless, in it are countless universes, the visible universe is only a portion of the whole universe, and many universes with different characteristics exist. They have also written that in between the universes are empty spaces. The results on the studies on "black holes" (areas in space, where gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape from them) reveal that under controlled circumstances, black holes can serve as gateways into another world. Such gateways are also known as "wormholes" (a "tube" or a "throat" through which objects absorbed into black holes travel before exiting out of "white holes" and entering a new dimension) and theoretical studies are ongoing in this field as well while their results are frequently presented in Physical Review published by the American Physical Society (APS). The spiritual world to which Christians have fixed their eyes by faith cannot be said to be the same as the "new dimension of the world" above, but results from such studies are substantiating the world that has existed simply by faith. The fact that such studies are conducted by some of the most renowned scientists of our time is also very remarkable. One factor to which all of must pay close attention is that prior to the publication of such findings, the information above has already been disclosed by Dr. Jaerock Lee in his "Lectures on Genesis" on the topics of "spiritual worlds." Within the spiritual world are many realms (Psalm 68:33) and the plain fact is that in addition to the first heaven visible to our naked eyes, there are also second, third, and fourth heavens. We are once again reminded of God's Word in Romans 1:20:
"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse."
