Why Jesus had His hands and feet nailed through and bled?
New Update
“And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head. After they had mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.” (Matthew 27:29-31) ...

Why did they divide Jesus’ outer garments and cast lots for His tunic (3)

“Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. They said therefore among themselves, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,’ that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: ‘They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.’ Therefore the soldiers did these things.”
(John 19:23-24)

3. The reason that they did not tear Jesus’ tunic but cast lots for it

Tunic symbolizes one’s heart. Jesus is the King of Israel, so His tunic symbolized the hearts of the people of Israel.
The Israelites were God’s chosen people and the father of Israel is Jacob who inherited the faith of Abraham. They served God, the only and true Deity. When Jesus’s tunic was not torn, it means that the nation of Israel would be destroyed, but the national spirit of Israel and their heart of serving God would not perish.
Israel was destroyed and the nation disappeared. But no nation and no one has not been able to take away the God in their hearts and their hearts toward God. The Scriptures prophesied this truth.
God chose the Israelites who possessed a true and unchanging heart, and sent His only begotten Son Jesus among them as recorded in the Scriptures. Even today, the Jews have a sincere heart of keeping the Law thoroughly. This is because they inherited the unchanging heart of Jacob, the ancestor of Israel.
Israel was destroyed in 70 AD and scattered around the world. But after many years, it gained independence in 1948 and amazed the whole world. In a very short period of time after independence, it joined the ranks of advanced countries and showed the excellence of Israel.
As the Roman soldiers could not tear Jesus’ tunic, so no one could take away the spirit of Israel of serving God. So, they finally rebuilt their nation and gained independence, fulfilling God’s will as His Elect.

4. Israel’s history and the end times prophesied in the Bible

In Matthew 24:32-34, Jesus said, “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
He gave this parable when He explained to His disciples about the sign of His coming and the end of the age. This contains deep spiritual meaning.
Here, the ‘fig tree’ symbolizes Israel. We can see that when the leaves fall and the cold wind blows, winter is coming soon, and when the fig tree becomes tender, summer is approaching. In the same way, Israel was destroyed and disappeared but when it gained independence again, it means that the Lord’s second coming is near.
We do not know exactly how long the “generation” Jesus spoke of is, but what is certain is that it will happen, and since we have already seen Israel’s independence, we know that the time of His coming is near.
Therefore, the believers who wait for the Lord’s second coming must be more alert, prepare enough oil, and adorn themselves as His bride so that they can confidently welcome Him, saying, “Come, Lord Jesus!”
