"Twenty-four Years of Prayer through Rain or Snow Celebrates Its 400th Anniversary"
Last November 30: three thousand members crying out in prayer while attending The Two Continuous Special Daniel Prayer Meetings being held in the main sanctuary and the second sanctuary of Manmin Central Church.
"Lord, Lord, Lord!!"
The prayer of the congregation resonates through the entire sanctuary. The Two Continuous Special Daniel Prayer Meetings were held under the auspice of the Manmin Prayer Center with its leader, President Boknim Lee, from last November 2 to December 13, 2009.
There are members who pray holding their hands and humbly bowing their heads before God, and there are members who pray fervently, shaking their bodies back and forth while kneeling down on the narrow pews. From three/four-year-old children who came to pray following their patents, to the elderly members with gray hair, all attendees pray eagerly.
The Daniel Prayer Meetings are held every night from 9 p.m. to 11:40 p.m. (11 p.m. on the weekends). Beginning in 1986, the meetings have been going on for 24 years now. The title "Daniel" came from the name of Prophet Daniel who prayed to God and received his answer after 21 days of prayer during a spiritual battle (Daniel 10:12-14). This is why the church has set 21 days as 1 period of prayer to receive answers like Daniel did. This was the 400th Daniel Prayer Meeting, and this time we offered two continuous Special Daniel Prayer Meetings.
In May of 1986, when Pastor Jaerock Lee was ordained as a pastor, God had him leave the church for 3 weeks and only communicate with God from the very start of his ministry as a pastor. At that time, his wife, President Boknim Lee, gathered with 100 other members every night after daily work and prayed. This was the beginning of the Daniel Prayer Meetings.
The reason that this Daniel Prayer Meeting has significant meaning is that the members have prayed for the kingdom of God and His righteousness without change; up to this 400th Daniel Prayer Meeting.
All members have cried out in prayer with President Boknim Lee for the church, the salvation of souls, the ministry of Dr. Jaerock Lee, construction of the sanctuary, servants and workers of the church, missionaries, for the country and its people, and for the prosperity of their own souls, and received countless answers from above. The prayer meetings have served as a life force to accomplishing national and global evangelism for the last 24 years.
Especially, since the year of 2000, the Daniel Prayer Meetings offered up during Dr. Jaerock Lee's 12 overseas crusades held in USA, India, Germany, Russia, Kenya, Pakistan and etc., and the 2009 Israel United Crusade held in last September shook the throne of God and greatly contributed to gaining victory in all crusades. And also, it has become an essential course for members to confirm God's love, receive blessings in their homes, workplaces, and businesses, because while praying, members were accomplishing sanctification and becoming important workers in the church.
Elder Boaz Lee, 62, (President of the Elder's Association and President of Manmin TV) says, "Without the Daniel Prayer Meetings, we couldn't have been able to carry out the various works of the church. Though we experienced many difficulties and trials, we could overcome them with prayer. Prayer is a part of my life."
Senior Deaconess Hyunsook Cho, 48, (President of United Women's Mission) confesses, "The Daniel Prayer Meeting has made me what I am today. Because I was able to cry out to God in prayer every night, I could become a church worker, and all my family members are running toward New Jerusalem. The more I understand the word of God, the more I realize the significance of prayer."
Daniel Prayer Meetings are attended by members in the main sanctuary, domestic branch churches, satellite sanctuaries, and worldwide members via GCN-Manmin TV and the Internet. Despite the physical distance from the church, members are provided with the same spiritual nutrition through the Daniel Prayer Meetings serving as a network. So the countless cases of healing, solutions to life's problems, and blessings are manifested transcending space and time.
Missionary Jaewon Lee, who participates in the Daniel Prayer Meetings through the Internet in Thailand says "I was grateful for being able to attend the Daniel Prayer Meetings through the Internet when I arrived in Thailand, because prayer is my life line."
Interview with President Boknim Lee - "Prayer Is like a Peptic to Me."
 Q: From where did you receive the strength to lead the Daniel Prayer Meetings for the last 24 years?
I feel like a student who didn't finish his homework if I don't pray. Unless I pray, I feel empty in one corner of my heart, and I can't feel happiness and joy. It was only by God's grace and strength that I could keep praying without ceasing.
It is the gift and grace of God given to the Senior Pastor who spreads the holiness gospel to the whole world. Of course there were times I felt tired and exhausted, but I regained strength when I thought about the Senior Pastor who has been devoting himself day and night for 6.8 billion souls.
And seeing our members growing in spirit and receiving healing from diseases and receiving answers to all kinds of life's problems.
Q: What would you like to say to all the members worldwide that participate in the Daniel Prayer Meetings?
Prayer is like a digester for our life of faith. When we pray fervently, we can receive the power from above to digest the word of God. Without prayer, we can't understand the word and put it into practice. It's like not being able to stand up even if we want to unless we have strength in both of our legs. Only when we receive the grace and power from God can we find ourselves, cast off untruths, and become a man of spirit. I hope that all our members stay awake in their life of faith by praying fervently without ceasing.
