[Light and Salt] Shinyoung Lee: A Wise and Clever child
It was a beautiful sunny day, full of autumn's colors, when I met the young, but quite mature 4th grade student, Shinyoung Lee, while he was roller-blading at his school. I was told that he was well respected at home, at school and at church. "In the late May of this year I moved to this school. About 3 months later I was chosen as a class monitor. It was possible for me because God helped me." It is difficult and almost unimaginable for someone who had just moved from another school only three months prior to the elections to be chosen to be the winner. "A little while ago our school went for a summer retreat. When other children watched TV and had fun with one another, I cleaned the room and kept everything in order and tidy. Because of that they gave me a couple good points and accepted me." His mother Deaconess Jinsun Chung told me about a miracle that had occurred with him. "When he was conceived, I took too much medicine. So the doctor said that I would give birth to a baby with birth defects. I registered at Manmin Joong-ang Church with a desire to catch at a straw. I attended various worship services and repented of my past sins. A few days before I gave birth to him I dream a dream and saw Rev. Dr. Jaerock Lee and his wife Mrs. Boknim Lee praying for me in that dream. After that I gave birth to a healthy baby." At this miracle, her husband Deacon Sungkyun Lee accepted Jesus Christ, and since then their souls have been prosperous and happiness came upon them as much as they lived by the word of God. The child was also touched whenever he met our Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Lee who sees the strong points rather than weak ones and encourages people, and he has tried to live in goodness to the glory of God. Whenever Shinyoung gets sick, he repents and is healed through Rev. Dr. Lee's prayer. He is a class monitor in the Sunday children's school and serves as a member of the "White Stone Choir." He does not receive any personal tutoring, but concentrates on his studies through the prayer to God and gets the good grades at school. He won the first prize at the "Children's Intellectual Contest" and at the "Chinese Character Writing Contest." When his friends see the kind of friend he is, they want to go with him to church. I am proud to see such a praiseworthy young person who says that he wants to be a wise young man.
