 "And He said, 'If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer.'" (Exodus 15:26)
The God of love wants all the people to stay away from all kinds of diseases and enjoy good health. He sent His only begotten Son to this earth and opened up the way for everyone to receive healing by faith (1 Peter 2:24). As there is no effect without cause, every disease arises from certain causes. Therefore, if you figure out the causes and solve them, you will be healed quickly.
1. General Causes of Diseases
1) The result of one's own sin
'The diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians' in Exodus 15:26 involve all kinds of diseases on the earth. The scripture shows God's justice and promise that if we live by His Word, He will protect us from any and all kinds of disease. Thus, if you have some kind of disease, you need to check if there is anything you do not obey according to God's Word.
Moreover, you have to determine the reason why you are inflicted with diseases in order to receive healings. In other words, you should find out what you did that was not in accordance with God's will. When you turn from your ways and act in accordance with His will, you will be healed. You must not commit such sins again after receiving healing. This is because something worse happens to you if you sin again. (John 5:14)
2) The result of disobedience to physical order
There are some people in anguish from certain diseases even though they do not commit sins. It is because they do not keep the physical orders. For instance, stomach disorders can be caused by eating irregularly or overeating. Smoking or drinking can lead to cancer or liver disorders. You might have diseases because you do not take care of your health. All those are attributed to your carelessness. That is, you do not cherish your body that God gave you, and you break the physical laws affecting the body.
3) The result of neuroses and other mental disorders
Many people in modern society are under severe stress. They live in the anguish of mental disease such as nervousness, pressure, anxiety, and tiredness which can trigger physical diseases. We will be set free from such mental diseases as long as we forgive, understand, and love others according to the Word. In other words, if there is no hatred or anger in our heart, our emotions will not be stirred, but just become free from any kinds of mental diseases. On the contrary, if we still have evil, our emotions will be stimulated and it can lead to mental disorders and even physical diseases.
4) The result of works of the enemy devil
Even though they attend church, some believers are demon-possessed or controlled by evil spirits and then fall sick. This is because they say they believe in God, but do evil going beyond the limit of God's justice. Nevertheless, when they repent thoroughly and turn back from their sins, God will heal them and set them from works of evil spirits.
If the patients are not sane and unable to repent for themselves, their family members should become united as one and repent on their behalf and then receive prayer for the sick by faith. Even though they have been tormented from those mental disorders and diseases the devil brought on them because they forsook God's will and distanced themselves from the truth, they will be completely healed and released if they thoroughly repent and turn back.
2. Other special causes of diseases
1) When one pays for the penalty of the other's sin tied with him in a spiritual cord
As recorded in Jeremiah 31:30, "But everyone will die for his own iniquity; each man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge," and in Ezekiel 18:20, "The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father's iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son's iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself," each individual is principally judged and punished not because of others' sin but because of his own sin.
But there are rare cases where a believer falls sick because he/she is bound to other members of the family in spirit with a spiritual cord. Such a case commonly happens between a wife and a husband or between children and parents, but there are siblings who are tied up by a cord of spirit from time to time. It's because when one family member has sinned, another member doesn't commit the sinned member to God but instead prays to God suggesting a certain provision or conditional situation. Then, it leads to creating a spiritual cord between them, and the latter falls ill because he has to pay for the punishment of the other's sin.
2) The result of ancestors' extreme idolatry
When ancestors had called upon demons and worshiped idols to an extreme for generations, the generational family members may fill the amount of evil piled up for a long period of time with their sins, and then the family members are put under a curse. Children in such families are usually born with incurable diseases or infirmities and the family members constantly have troubles and trials and become alcohol or drug addicts and mental patients.
When they are about to believe in God, evil spirits disturb them to prevent them from believing in God. But a faithful believer in the Christ can be set free from those curses due to his ancestors' extreme idolatry even though he is born in a cursed family. God's justice applies precisely to anyone's life, but He places love before justice. If you have completely cultivated your heart into spirit and attained to the level of whole spirit, Satan cannot affect you at all and you have nothing to do with a spiritual cord with.
Dear brothers and sisters, Jesus Himself took our infirmities and carried away our diseases by His scourging and shedding of His blood. That's why there is no reason for believers in Jesus Christ to be inflicted with diseases (Matthew 8:17). I hope that you will meet the God of healing and answers and enjoy good health and a happy life by the power of the Lord.
